FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INDUSTRY’S FIRST CARRIER-TO-CARRIER BANDWIDTH DEAL COMPLETED BY A US ONLINE EXCHANGE
ATLANTA, GA (October 3, 2000) – Telephone.com, the global telecommunications exchange, successfully facilitated a milestone carrier-to-carrier deal for a DS-3 bandwidth route between New York City and Saint Louis. The deal is the industry’s first publicized carrier-to-carrier transaction facilitated by a United States-based online exchange. Buddy West, Telephone.com’s CEO and President said, “The quality of customers and increasing number of transactions is evidence that our business model is a good fit for the current telecommunications marketplace. We are well positioned to serve a bandwidth industry that is forecasted to grow to over $441 billion by 2005.”
“Telephone.com made the deal easy and convenient for us. The turn around time and the rate were unbeatable. We look forward to doing more deals with Telephone.com in the future,” said the spokesperson for the buyer.
Telephone.com attributes their success to blending the traditional person-to-person approach of selling bandwidth and minutes with the Internet technology of their online exchange. The carriers can continue to utilize their own switches rather than move towards proprietary common switching points.
